Buyer's Guide for Flair espresso machine

Flair Espresso has five different models of manual espresso machines that suit everyone, but choosing the right model is an important first step.
Watch our video on the buying guide to get an overview of each model and what features are offered. Or continue reading below.

There are five different Flair models.

To understand the differences, we must first start with the brew heads.

Flair 58

The Flair 58 brew head has a portafilter of 58 millimeters according to industry standards and a barista handle in wood. Flair 58 comes standard with an 18 gram basket that can receive a dose between 16 and 20 grams. But due to the compatibility of the portafilter of 58 millimeters, users can buy alternative baskets that accept anything from seven to 28 grams dose.

Inside the brew group rests our three-part temperature control system for preheating, which enables users to preheat their brew head electrically for consistent heat management. And the Flair 58 offers a retractable stainless steel piston and a custom pressure gauge. The 58 components are not compatible with other Flair models.

The PRO 2

PRO 2 Brew Head is standard on all PRO 2 Flairs.

It is larger in terms of water capacity, larger in terms of dosing interval and more capable in terms of handling different brewing conditions. PRO 2 is standard with our custom pressure gauge and has a removable barrel for naked or bottomless brewing. The portafilter basket is 46 mm in diameter, is made of stainless steel and the basket replicates the design of portafilter in café style.

Most Classic and Signature Flairs can be upgraded to PRO 2 Brew Head. To be able to upgrade, the models must have a black adapter ring on the portafilter base.

The standard brew head

The standard brew head is included in the NEO, Classic and Signature models and can receive the flow-controlled portafilter, as on NEO, or the bottomless 2-in-1 portafilter, as on Classic and Signature. (Flow-Control 2 Portafilter is easily recognizable by its red color).

This brew head is smaller and has less stainless steel than the PRO 2 brew head, with a 60 ml container and a dosing range of 12-18 grams. The yield from Standard Brew Head is about 45 ml, or less than a volumetric double shot. However, Standard Brew Head still has the ability to produce cafe-quality shots, just like PRO 2.

Parts of Standard and PRO 2 Brew Heads are not interchangeable.
